Today we move to our apartment. We are ready. One last walk in the park. Becky joins me. We are out a little earlier than usual due to our move. I don't see my buddies. But, we walk past a natural amphitheater where jazzercize Ecudoriano style is going on. Those 50 plus women were putting the salsa moves on the exercise. Wish I could do it. The move is seamless. Our wireless is working - the main thing. It is crazy how far we have come. We insist on wireless in Ecuador. Twenty years ago we were happy for a fax. The apartment is incredible. Something like this stateside would be beyond our means. We are very comfortable, warm and secure. First shopping trip. Ecuador has a chain called Supermax. It rivals anything the US has. We do a very domestic trip. We are limited to what our back packs can carry. Existing on foot is great- but has It's limitations. We plan to do our fruits and vegetable shopping in local markets, but today is about the basics. We try our first trip into town. We can get to our school in about 25 minutes. We stop at the flower market. This is a place the indigenous men set up for their wives after their child bearing years were over - when, supposedly, they had nothing to do. When you look at their faces and postures, I don't think they really needed another job. At any rate, there is a square called the flower market. The Indian ladies bring their flowers every day. The flowers are incredible. We had to have some for our new apartment. I started to bargain on the price but said the hell with it - they need very penny. On the way back bought some oranges and a tarp for my painting space. I will get going soon Leah. Washing clothes now - ah domesticity. One more day before we go to work.
